Question: How do I remove a screw that has worn out grooves?
( Back )
Answer #1:
Absolute pain when this happens. The best option when the head is worn out is to drill the screw out with an electric drill and a steel bit that is slightly smaller in size than the bolt.
Good luck
Answer #2:
use some long nose pliers or tweezers and pull it out, failing that turn off your water supply, and disconnect the whole tap, there should be a nut at the base of the wall where the tap joins the wall, if its not a nut, there will be a square typefitting where you can put a wrench and unscrew the whole tap, that will make ur job easier.
Answer #3:
The best way is to drill a small hole in the screw and use an Easy Out (or EZ Out) extractor tool.

Answer #4:
Lowe's has a stripped screw remover called "GRABIT #1 Damaged Screw Remover ", I am pretty sure most hardware stores have something similar. You just put in in your drill like any other drill bit and using reverse it will bite into the screw head and unscrew it.
Answer #5:
There is two ways to do this, first, do not use a standard drill bit to drill it out, if the head of screw comes off, then the Threaded part will be stuck in side, you can drill it out with a reverse drill bit, when using a reverse drill bit, make sure your DRILL is set to reverse, meaning it must turn COUNTER Clockwise, the same way the screw turns out, before using a reverse drill bit, I would try this first,
its called a( Alden Grabit ) check it out here,

I would use the reverse drill bit as a last resort, the site for the reverse drill bits,
